You can go on these open top buses, that have different lines that can take you to the most "famous things".
I only had a day there, but i recommend seeing some of the Gaudi archetechture (he uses curves rather than straight lines so they are really distinctive). There are apartments (which i only saw the outside) but there is another house thats good to go into (can't remember the name, but it has "fish scales" outside). The sangrade Familia (also designed by Gaudi) is something to see as well (its actually still under construction and is the only cathredaral in the world to be so).

They were my highlights, also the markets on la rambala (main street) were good to nosy through...
tip. when people in the tourist shops offer you something, say no and they will often come down in price (i didn't pay anything full price eg for fans, neclaces etc)
Also watch for pickpockets. This was the only place I nearly got sucked in. Woman work in pairs where one comes up and tries to pin a carnation on you, the other comes up behind so watch it!!! Just say no again and ignore them
References :
Compact Travel Guide for Barcelona ??
ill be staying in Barcelona for 2-3 days before my mediterranean cruise. Im on a budget but not backpack and don't really read those history parts of the book, not much into museums either.
can you please recommend a compact guide book on must see places and practical tips with clear map.
